ABC Bracelets: A Letter Recognition Activity

Learning the alphabet is FUN when you have ABC bracelets! Preschoolers love being able to admire their “letter of the day” just by glancing at their wrist, and they can enjoy the attention they get as friends and family ask, “What letter do you have today?” And tomorrow they get a brand-new bracelet with a brand-new letter to admire!

Our free download includes three sets of bracelets (uppercase, lowercase, and combination). Just choose a letter, prepare the bracelet, and let the learning begin!

Instructions for the ABC Bracelets

  1. Download and print a set of ABC Bracelets. The PDF includes both full-color and black-and-white bracelets.
  2. Cut out the strip for your “letter of the day.” Laminate if desired.
  3. Create the bracelet by fastening the ends together with double-sided tape or Velcro dots.

Playing with Your ABC Bracelets

If you’re using the black-and-white version of the bracelets, you can add to the fun by allowing your child to color each bracelet.

Letter bracelets make great fashion accessories, too! Some kids like to wear more than one ABC bracelet.

Child displaying ABC bracelets

Throughout the day, be sure to ask your preschooler, “What letter do you have on your wrist today?” You can also use the three illustrated objects on the bracelet to help your child begin learning the sounds that each letter makes.

Thank you for the sharing this activity! I used to teach preschool and we used the watch version of this. My students loved making these and now that I’m home with my little one I know she will enjoy making these as well. What I like about this bracelet version is that it has more pictures on it with the letter sounds. If you use packing tape and put it on both sides and then trim around it, they can slip them on and off and they can use them over and over again.

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

What a great tip to make the bracelets reusable, Melonie! Thank you for sharing it!

Thank you I work in the computer room at our elementary and sometimes the Kindergarten and Alt. Kindergarten have a tough time working a desk computer especially if they struggle with their alphabet. The classroom teachers only have so much time to teach it all that I am always looking for ways to help the kids. I hope to use the colored ones around the room to help them with the computer program they do. Thank you for helping me out with the $0 budget they allow for a para educator. Even if I am the only one in the computer room helping the kids.

Kristen

says:

This is really cute. I love the idea of a bracelet even better than the hats that I have seen (and used) for my son. So much easier for them to keep on during the day.

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

Kristen,
Plus, the child can see the bracelet and be reminded of the letter multiple times a day. With hats, they can only see it if they take it off.
