I love this and have made it! How do you get the bones with letters out of the dog? Thanks for sharing!

Good question, Barb!

The download has more detailed instructions and lets you know not to close up the top flaps of the box. So, after you finish feeding the puppy, you can open the flaps and pour the bones out like you would for cereal.

However, you can also cut a hole in the back side of the box large enough to stick a hand in and pull the bones out.

It’s amazing how much kids take to this! I’ve even used this for the kids to feed him phrases and sentences. My youngest would get concerned if we hadn’t fed him for a while. 💝

My kids LOVE this game! All the feed the ____ games are a hit in this house (and even with friends when we do school together)! We like to make the puppy talk with funny voices or make silly sounds as he eats the bones “____ feed me the M. Hurry, I’m feeling HUNGRY!” or “Yum, yum, yummmm! That letter was so tasty! Can I have another please?” We also shake the box sometimes because the dog gets so excited chomping on the bone (ha!). Sometimes the dog “spits out” the letter and says, “Hmmm, I don’t think that was right. Can you try again?” etc. Thanks for adding so much fun to reading and spelling!

We are using this with the pre-reading program with my son. About ever 4 new sounds we play this game. He loves the feed the dog. Sometimes I say the sound and he has to find the right letter. Sometimes he has to say the sound on the bone before feeding the dog. It helps that my son is obsessed with dogs at the moment.
