says:Hello, During the COVID shutdown, I realized my grandson, Jakob, a 6th grader, was working on a 1st/2nd grade level. Long story short, his mother, my dau. Heidi decided to withdraw him and begin homeschooling. I help Heidi with LA because she is deaf. Jakob is working on a 5th/6th-grade level. Jakob is autistic; however, he is level one on the ASD chart. He struggles with reading comprehension. I’m impressed with what I’m reading concerning your curriculum. Do you have any suggestions for me? We are currently using Master Books 5th grade level. Thank you, Lisa

says: Customer ServiceLisa,
I’m happy to help you with placement and considerations with your grandson. You will want to start with our placement tests to get a general idea of where to start. Note, placement for reading and spelling are separate; just scroll a bit to find the spelling placement test.
The levels in All About Reading and All About Spelling don’t correlate to specific grades because the order of the words in them is not “grade-level” order. The programs are mastery-based rather than grade-level-based.
Once your grandson does the placement tests, let me know how he placed, especially the specific questions and skills he had difficulties with. We can discuss it here, if you like, or you can email me at support@allaboutlearningpress.com. I’m happy to help!
