A Is for Alligator Craft

This ABC Crafts letter-of-the-week animal may have a mouthful of sharp teeth, but he’s still pretty cute. Your little one will love learning the letter A with our A Is for Alligator craft!

Here’s What You’ll Need

Instructions for Assembling Your Letter A Craft

  1. Print the A Is for Alligator Craft templates.
  2. Cut out the templates and trace the letter A and the alligator head and teeth onto card stock.
  3. Cut out the letter A and alligator pieces.
  4. Glue the letter A and alligator pieces onto a full sheet of card stock (we used purple, but you can use any color you like) to form a wide-mouthed alligator.
  5. Glue 2 googly eyes to the alligator’s head piece.

Can these be used in a group setting? My sister-in-law is teaching a small group of kids at her job (children of those who work with her) in a circle time setting. My son enjoyed these when he was learning his letters :-). Please let me know. Thanks!

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

Teressa,
Yes! There has been a number of schools and daycare programs that have put these ABC craft activities to great use in their groups!

Mariah

says:

Thank you for these crafts! My kids love cutting and pasting more than coloring. And this is perfect mix to teach the letters with one and sounds with the other. Thank you for making it so easy!

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

You’re so welcome, Mariah! My kids loved more crafty stuff than simple coloring too, so I understand.

Katie

says:

What is the letter u animal and I?

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

Katie,
The capital U animal is an umbrellabird. They are native to Central and South American and are pretty interesting! The capital I animal craft is an inchworm, also an interesting animal.

Nessa

says:

Thank you for making this available…I traced the letter from the template and I told him to paint and he loved every minute of the craft…he is so not in to colouring …thank you again

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

Nessa,
I agree with your son; coloring is overrated but painting is wonderful. You’re welcome for this, and I’m pleased to hear it was enjoyed so well. ?

Kelsi

says:

My 3 year old loves doing these! We also cut out the little examples and feed them to the puppy cereal box we made from your free template. So now we feed it dog bones and animal letters :)

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

What a great idea, Kelsi! Thanks for sharing this additional fun way to review.

Debbie

says:

This is just what I was looking for to do with my 2 1/2 year old (Alex)! His 4 year old brother goes to preschool class, so Alex is becoming interested in letters and “homework” too. I will just glue down one side of the A, then use a brad paper fastener to make the mouth open and close. Hopefully that will work, and add some excitement for my little man. Thanks so much!

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

I love your idea of making the alligator’s mouth be able to open and close, Debbie!

Darla

This is the first successful alphabet craft for my not very cooperative 4-year-old! My son is not very interested in coloring and when I look into fun activities to do with him they are either too involved, which doesn’t keep his interest, or not fun enough. Instead, he spent the rest of the day showing off his alligator and was so proud of having something he put together himself (except the cutting). With homeschooling 3 older kids requiring so much of my time it was nice to have something cute and finish able to do with my youngest.

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

Kelly,
We are so pleased to know that this craft was such a positive experience for both your son and you! Thank you so much for sharing this. I will make sure those involved in developing these ABC animal crafts see your comment.

I love the idea of these letter crafts. My soon to be 9 year old son loves letters and always has. I was thinking this would be a great fine motor skill craft that we can use to display in our family room for his birthday party’s decorations.
