U Is for Umbrellabird Craft

U Is for Umbrellabird title graphic

Hey, no one said to expect rain today! Our ABC letter craft will be a soggy mess! Luckily, our friend the umbrellabird has stopped by to keep us dry and help us have some fun with the letter U. How unique!

Here’s What You’ll Need

Instructions for Assembling Your Letter U Craft

  1. Print the U Is for Umbrellabird Craft templates.
  2. Cut out the templates and trace the letter U and the umbrellabird body parts onto card stock.
  3. Cut out the letter U and the umbrellabird body parts.
  4. Attach the letter U to a full sheet of card stock (we used blue, but you can use any color you like).
  5. Glue the umbrellabird head, feet, and tail feather onto the letter U.
  6. Glue the head feather, chest feather, eye feather, beak, and cheek onto the umbrellabird.
  7. Affix one googly eye to the umbrellabird’s eye feather.

Learning with Your Letter U Craft

As you and your child assemble your U Is for Umbrellabird Craft, practice saying /ŭ/–/ŭ/–umbrellabird together. You can find more tips for working on pre-reading skills with your preschooler in this handy download.
