Rocket is a rather ordinary dog.
Just like all the other dogs, Rocket loves to chase leaves. He loves to take naps. And he loves to listen to the birds sing.
But Rocket doesn’t know how to read.
One day, a rather persuasive bird notices Rocket and thinks that he would make a wonderful student.
“Can’t read? Fantastic!” She waves a wing.
“Welcome to my classroom.”
And suddenly, everything in Rocket’s rather ordinary life changes.
On the first day of class, the determined bird opens a book and begins to read while Rocket settles in for his nap.
But the breeze blows her words in Rocket’s direction, and even in his sleepy state, Rocket listens. And before long he is hooked.
On a book.
That was how Rocket discovered the magic of books, and it was the beginning of how Rocket learned to read.
What was the first book that hooked you on reading?
