H Is for Horse Craft

This high-spirited horse is happy to help teach lowercase letter H—and all he asks is a little hay in return! Your little cowpokes will be giddy-up with glee over this wild ABC Craft. This adorable critter is bound to feel right at home on the range!

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • 2 sheets of printer paper
  • Card stock (we used brown, dark brown, and blue)
  • H Is for Horse Craft templates
  • Glue stick, black marker, and scissors
  • 1 googly eye

Instructions for Assembling Your Letter H Craft

  1. Print the H Is for Horse Craft templates.
  2. Cut out the templates and trace the letter H, ears, tail, and mane onto card stock.
  3. Cut out the letter H, ears, tail, and mane.
  4. Glue the letter H onto a full sheet of card stock (we used blue, but you can use any color you like).
  5. Glue the left ear, then the mane, then the right ear to the horse’s head.
  6. Attach the tail to the horse’s hind quarter.
  7. Use a black marker to draw ear marks, mouth, and nostrils.
  8. Affix a googly eye to the horse’s head.

Learning with Your Letter H Craft

As you and your child assemble your H Is for Horse Craft, practice saying /h/–/h/–horse together. You can find more tips for working on pre-reading skills with your preschooler in this handy download.
