We’ve gone through Level 1 and are starting Level 2 now with my 6 year old, and I just ordered the Pre-reading program for my 3 year old. He is super excited, but I think he will go through it fast. I had to piece together my Level 1 since I did not have the activity book, but since my older kido was already advanced it didn’t matter for him, but for my 3 year old I will need the full program. Looking forward to getting to that level with him and mastering level 2 with my big guy!

Kasia

says:

My son just turned 10 and hates reading, writing, and spelling. He often says, “I can’t read!” He occasionally inverses letters and numbers while writing and reading, like the letters b and d. Thankfully, he loves the library, books, being read to, audio books, and drawing. We homeschool and his older sister began reading at age 4, so with my son I hoped the “better late than early” approach was what he needed. Reading, writing, and spelling comes so easy for my daughter- I kept hoping ’any day he’ll catch on’. But giving him more time has made him more frustrated and affects his self esteem. He doesn’t enjoy playing board games with family and friends that require reading- and most games do. He stopped attending CCD after grade one, because he feared having to read aloud in class. I’ve been wanting to help my son but I didn’t know where to start. Your program is the answer to my prayers. I’ve been receiving the All About Learning Press emails for 7 months now. The website, blogs, and all the comments/success stories posted by parents and teachers are so encouraging. I am ready and so very excited to start All About Reading Level One with my son. I hope and pray he is another one of AALP’s success stories. I cannot thank you enough for all your information and encouragement.
Thank you for offering the Give Away.

I would love to win this! I’ve been wanting to order because I’m feeling like the program I’m using isn’t quite right for the small group of students I’m working with. I’m trying to tweak it, but your program looks amazing.

Jenny B.

says:

I am so excited to start AAR with my youngest son next fall! We already own the black & white versions of Levels 2, 3, and 4 from when my middle son was younger, but we don’t have Level 1. I am debating whether or not I should get the color edition or the black & white. I’m a little worried that my son might be disappointed with Levels 2-4 being in black & white if I start him off with Level 1 in color. Hmm… I need to think on that! If I won a free set of the Level 1 color edition, that would make it an easy decision! ;)

Deanna Marissa

Would love to win for my kids.

I love the giveaways. My son is in the “I don’t want to read” stage. I am hoping this set will help.

Keri

says:

I love that you do these giveaways. I am about to begin teaching my preschooler to start to read (she recently told me she wants to learn!), and I have been looking at your pre-reading program. I’m wondering if there is a blog post you can refer me to or if you can give more information about teaching letter names before the sounds, the sounds before the names, or doing both at the same time, and how that affects learning to read? It looks like letter names are taught first in the pre-reading program. My older child learned to read by learning the sounds of the letters first in her preschool. I would love some more knowledge and information about this topic!

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

Great question, Keri!
We do have a blog post that discusses this briefly. See How to Teach the Alphabet to Preschoolers. The points listed under the subheading “Advantages of Learning the Letter Names” aren’t opinion; they are supported by educational research into letter learning and early reading. While some of the arguments for learning letter sounds first seem to be good arguments, research tells us that learning letter names and then the sounds is more effective for learning to read.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Jennifer

says:

My child with reading difficulties has really responded well to AAR materials. We especially appreciate that the readers are almost completely decodable with a minimum of sight words (visual memory issues make sight words so hard) and that the stories are interesting, not boring and repetitive.

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

Jennifer,
It’s so wonderful to hear that All About Reading is working well with your child! I, too, loved that the program set my children up for success with the stories and we were never surprised by some unexpected, untaught word within them.

I think the date on this is wrong. It says the giveaway ends on January 1, 2019 not 2020.

I would love to win a free level of AAR since I need to buy two soon and a AAS level! This is a great program and my kids both love to read. They inhale library books and beg me to do reading/spelling lessons and to read out loud. I love how everything is laid out for me. I just have to prepare the activities and follow what to do/say.

Robin E.

says: Customer Service

Great catch, Elizabeth! We’ll get that fixed.

It’s great to hear how well your kids are reading and how well AAR and AAS are working out for you.
