Snacks that start with S - Snazzy Snail Bites

You might not be able to get your preschooler to eat escargot, but these bite-sized snail sandwiches will disappear faster than you can say Snazzy Snail Snack Bites!

This easy-to-make version of a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich will have your kids jumping to help with the preparation process, and clamoring to eat more.

If you throw in a few extra grapes and a handful of pretzels, this snack can easily become a filling lunch for a hungry pre-schooler.

Snazzy Snail Snack Bites

Here’s what you’ll need to make six snails:

  • 2 slices of bread, crusts removed
  • 3 teaspoons peanut butter
  • 3 teaspoons jelly
  • Red grapes
  • Mini pretzel sticks

Directions:

  1. Remove crusts from bread slices and flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
  2. Spread peanut butter and jelly on each slice of bread.
  3. Roll up each slice of bread tightly.
  4. Cut each roll into thinly sliced “snails.”
  5. Lay the slices on a plate and garnish each snail with a red grape and 2 pretzels to create a head.

Variations:

  • Substitute cream cheese for the peanut butter.
  • Substitute marshmallow fluff for the jelly.
