P Is for Papa Polar Bear

Polar bear snack

‘Tis the season for cozy sweaters and fuzzy slippers!

If the wind is howling and it’s a little chilly in your house today, we have an ABC Snack recipe that is sure to get you all warm and “toasty.” (Yes, that pun was intended!)

Our Polar Bear Toast recipe is easy to make, but is wholesome and hearty enough to be part of your little one’s lunch or breakfast on a blustery day.

This papa polar bear and his roly-poly twins are going to work their way right into your child’s heart … and her tummy.

And while you’re working on this fun, hands-on snack together, you might learn a little about polar bears, too! Did you know that polar bears often give birth to sets of twins?

  4. Position banana slices to form the bears’ ears and snouts.
  5. Position blueberries to complete the bears’ faces.
  6. Garnish with 5-6 sections of a small orange

Launa,
Some of our ABC snacks are more healthy than others, but I think all of them could be easily adapted to be more healthy. My favorite one, and it is quite healthy, is the J is for Jolly Jellyfish one.

Sharon

Kimberly,
Thank you for taking the time to tell us how this snack went with your preschooler. It’s great to hear that it was as well received as we hoped it would be!

Heather

says:

I love when I get the email notifications for a new blog post like this. I can get really focused on my older, school-age kids & what they’re working on, so these types of posts just remind me to take that teaching time with my littles! Thank you for touching on topics for all ages. :-)

Robin E. at All About Learning Press

says: Customer Service

Heather,
You are welcome. We are happy to be a help across the range of ages of learners.

Susie

says:

Good example of using every moment to teach–letter sounds, in this instance. People ask me what I did to teach my kids to be such good readers, as in what curriculum I used. It’s not so much the curriculum, but more trying to catch every moment.

Robin E. at All About Learning Press

says: Customer Service

Great point, Susie. Thank you for sharing.

Katie

says:

I love this idea! Thanks!

Sara K.

says:

This is a great idea. We are working on letter sounds now so I will have to incorporate cooking into the lessons.

Robin E. at All About Learning Press

Have fun, Barb. I kind of wish I still had preschoolers or a kinder student in the house, because between the Polar Pack, this polar bear snack, and the Polar Bear Picture Books blog post, I could make a whole mini-unit study out of it.
